New Business Intelligence Add-on helps convert financial transaction data to strategic business information
Newton, MA, USA - July 29, 2002 - Baan Process Solutions, a business of Baan - the leading enterprise application provider for industrial enterprises and part of Invensys plc - today announced the availability of the iBaan business intelligence for Protean. The new iBaan Decision Manager Template for Protean is part of Baan's iBaan Business Intelligence Suite. With it, Protean users will be better positioned to analyze business transaction data at multiple levels to support business decisions.
Protean is a comprehensive enterprise software suite that helps process manufacturers manage business and plant operations more efficiently. Protean is used widely in the chemical, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, and other process industries. The financial module is one of more than eight modules that support key business functions. With the business intelligence template announced today, users will have greater access and flexibility in using data from the financial module to support business decision-making.

The iBaan Business Decision Manager Template creates multi-dimensional analytic information to represent key financial measures including actual and budget amounts, beginning and ending balances, year-to-date amounts, and budget variances. Users can then construct reports by defining relationships among such data components.
All analytic information can be viewed by company, up to seven user-defined dimensions and all calendar levels supported by Protean. It provides customers with all the tools they need to get useable and actionable business information.
The Business Intelligence Suite offering for Protean Customers consists of two products:
- iBaan Decision Manager, which includes the tools needed to extract, transform and load the analytic information, as well as sophisticated analytic tools.
- iBaan Decision Manager Template 1.0 for Protean 3.2i - Finance, which defines how Protean Finance data is to be transformed into usable and actionable business information.
The iBaan Decision Manager and Template 1.0 are available immediately, as add-ons to Protean version 3.2i and 4.0i.
