Vishays New EMI Filter Arrays With Integrated ESD Protection Diodes Combine -30-dB Filter Attenuation from 900 MHz to 2.3 GHz and 30-kV ESD Protection in Four Compact Package Designs

MALVERN, PENNSYLVANIA - February 24, 2006 - Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced the release of six new EMI filter arrays with integrated ESD protection diodes. Offered in ultra-small leadless, plastic packages, the new devices provide both EMI filtering and ESD protection for data lines in space-critical mobile applications.

The new VEMI arrays announced today are available in compact LLP75-6A, LLP75-7A, LLP70-9A, and FlipChip (BGA) packages and provided, respectively, in two-, three-, four-, and six-channel configurations. The new arrays, designed for cost-effective use in high-volume computing, communications, and consumer products, are intended to provide I/O protection in mobile and smart phones, laptop computers, PDAs, MP3 players, digital still cameras, modems, and mobile gaming systems.

Delivering high-quality filtering, the new devices are capable of attenuating unwanted signals by more than 30 dB over the 900 MHz up to 2.3 GHz frequency range, with low line resistance values from 30 ohm to 100 ohm. Low leakage current and capacitance help to prolong battery life. All six arrays provide transient protection for data lines as per IEC 6100042 (ESD) at 30kV (air and contact discharge) and IEC 6100045 (lightning) from 4 A to 5 A (tp = 8/20s). They also are compliant with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC.

The four very small package options for these VEMI arrays are lead (Pb)-free. The new arrays include the two-channel VEMI255A-HS3; three-channel VEMI353A-HA3, VEMI355A-HA3, and VEMI35AA-HA3; four-channel VEMI453A-HN2; and six-channel FlipChip VEMI65A6-FC2. The compact FlipChip in-line version is particularly well suited to use in portable electronics.

Samples and production quantities of the new EMI filter arrays with integrated ESD protection diodes are available now with lead times of 12 weeks. Pricing for U.S. delivery in 100,000-piece quantities ranges from $0.15 to $0.25 per piece or $15 to $25 per 100 pieces.
