Emerson's New Filling Transmitter Offers Mass-Based Accuracy While Increasing Reliability and Decreasing Costs

Increasing Reliability and Decreasing Costs

Compact, fast, and accurate Micro Motion® Filling Mass Transmitter is ideal for filling machine applications across a range of industries

BOULDER, COLO - Emerson Process Management announces a new Micro Motion® Filling Mass Transmitter, designed for any process that requires high-speed, high-accuracy filling or dosing.

Utilizing Micro Motion MVD(TM) (multivariable digital) technology, the Micro Motion Filling Mass Transmitter with a Micro Motion Coriolis sensor is ideally suited for a variety of linear and rotary filling machines across the life sciences, food and beverage, and chemical industries. The Filling Mass Transmitter can handle extremely fast fills (less than one second) and challenging fluids such as those with entrained air, suspended solids, or high viscosity. Integrated valve control reduces external processing and increases accuracy.

Following a trial of Micro Motion meters, Mike Mihalik, Vice President of Engineering at Pneumatic Scale Angelus, stated, "The results with Micro Motion Coriolis filling meters were higher efficiency by improved reliability - 10,000 containers per shift vs. 8,000 with older, less reliable filling technology."

The Filling Mass Transmitter, like other Micro Motion Coriolis meters, delivers mass, density and temperature process data in one device, supporting continuous monitoring of product quality with a complete real-time view of fluid characteristics. Digital communications provide continuous monitoring of density and temperature for real-time quality control, and enable "on the fly" changes to fill target or recipe.

The Automatic Overshoot Compensation (AOC) feature automatically adjusts valve management to compensate for changes in process conditions such as delivery pressure and fluid characteristics, delivering accuracy and reliability with minimal setup and maintenance. With direct mass measurement and superior stability (turndown), the Filling Mass Transmitter is suitable for filling a variety of container sizes and products with a single sensor

The Filling Mass Transmitter is compact and light, minimizing space requirements and reducing installation cost and effort. Easy to integrate into almost any filling machine, the slim profile and compact dimensions reduce the footprint and allow for the maximum number of fill heads. The Filling Mass Transmitter is compatible with the Micro Motion F-Series and H-Series ranges of Coriolis sensors, and also with the ELITE® sensor for very small fills. Simply select the sensor size and surface finish, and choose Modbus or PROFIBUS-DP digital communications, integrated valve control for next-generation speed and reliability, or a frequency/pulse output for traditional pulse-counting applications.

The Micro Motion Coriolis filling meter has no moving parts, thereby reducing maintenance requirements and cost while increasing throughput. The electronics are immune to temperature shocks from CIP/SIP procedures, and the sensors feature a hygienic drainable design. They are 3A-authorized and EHEDG certified for hygienic use, and designed for fast and easy cleaning with rounded corners, polished exterior surfaces, and no internal crevices.
