Fifth Wheel Release Device Cuts Driver Injuries
New Simple Safety Product to Debut at HDAW
Greenbush, MN (01/28/2009): The TnT Release is being introduced to the light and heavy duty aftermarket to help drivers release a 5th wheel, the sliding tandems, and open cargo doors or reach straps without injuries occurring. It will make its distributor debut at the upcoming Heavy Duty Aftermarket Week (HDAW) in Orlando.
The TnT Release works as a lever with existing fifth wheel configurations and is made up of a chrome molybdenum handle and an industrial grade aluminum rail. Unlike an "air-release", the TnT Release works consistently in all weather conditions.
"The TnT Release is a simple, yet innovative, product that can have multiple uses around the truck and trailer," said Mike Lund, TnT president. "It will pay for itself, many times over, by preventing some very common injuries that occur in trucking. These cause increased insurance premiums, medical costs and increased workers comp premiums".
"Truck transportation has one of the highest rates of injuries, often occurring from trying to release the truck from the trailer", continued Lund. The aluminum rail attaches to the plate at the existing pivot tab on all plates. No alterations need to be made to the truck. If any customization is necessary the TnT Release can be made to fit any unique needs.
"Semi truck drivers have the highest average days-away-from-work with 14 days - twice that of all other occupations," concluded Lund. "Back injuries make up more than 60% of the days-away-from-work cases. Shoulder injuries result in the longest absences from work, with an average of 16 days.
