Fiber Optic Transmitter/Receiver Set offers pluggable design.

Press Release Summary:

EM12T250 Transmitter and EM12R250 Receiver incorporate FCI (Berg) 10 x 10 MEG-Array y-axis connector system and are compatible with 12 channel Multiple Source Agreement. Parallel Fiber Optic modules offer 2.5 Gbps per channel and are designed for use in applications requiring up to 30 Gbps aggregate throughput. They operate with 50 m and 62.5 m multimode optical fiber array type cables and use single 3.5 V power supply.

Original Press Release:

New 12-Channel 30 Gbps Parallel Fiber Optic TX / RX Series

Calabasas, California - April 3, 2002 - E20 Communications, Inc.
an international provider of fiber optic transmission components and modules introduces a "pluggable" 12-Channel Parallel Fiber Optic (PFO) Transmitter/Receiver Set. The new models EM12T250 (Transmitter) and EM12R250 (Receiver) incorporate the FCI (Berg)
10x10 MEG-Array y-axis connector system and are compatible with the recently announced 12-Ch Multiple Source Agreement. The "pluggable" design allows flexibility in system production assembly and easy field upgrade or replacement.

The MEG-Array configuration allows the OEM to decouple the attachment of the PFO modules from the rest of its high temperature assembly processes. The receptacle portion of the MEG-Array connector goes through normal solder reflow assembly
processes along with other SMT devices. The PFO modules are plugged in during the final stage of production, avoiding harsh conditions of the reflow process. This also adds flexibility in system configuration by simplifying required inventory planning.

These 2.5 Gbps per Channel modules are designed for use in applications requiring up to 30 Gbps aggregate throughput. They operate with 50 m and 62.5 m multimode optical fiber array type cables and use a single +3.3V power supply. They provide
excellent immunity to radio-frequency electromagnetic fields by using a metal housing and chassis shield.

Applications include switch/router connection, inter/intra optical backplane connection, computer cluster connection, computer internal processor connection and OIF/SONET, VSR.
