3.3V Single Fiber Bi-Directional SFF 2x5 Transceiver
Calabasas, California - April 30, 2002 - E20 Communications, Inc., an international provider of fiber optic transmission components and modules, has announced its new 1550 nm TX /1310 nm RX single fiber, bi-directional small form factor EB015-U3EA Transceiver, for short and intermediate reach applications.
Designed primarily for use in FTTH (Fiber to the Home) downstream (from CO to customer premise) applications, it conforms to SONET OC-3/SDH STM-1 (155 Mbps) and Fast Ethernet (100 Mbps) specifications. When used in conjunction with the complementary model EB015-N3EA Transceiver, it provides a complete FTTH connection. Because it only requires one transmission fiber, fiber optic cable costs are cut in half, resulting in the most cost effective implementation for FTTH in the public network.
This bi-directional (Bi-Di), single fiber device has an MSA industry-standard 2x5 footprint and meets mezzanine height requirements of 9.8 mm. The transceiver features a signal detect circuit, which provides a PECL logic high output when a usable optical signal level is present.
The EB015-U3EA uses a single +3.3V power supply, operates with 9/125 micro m single mode optical fiber, and incorporates an industry-standard single fiber MU connector. It also provides superior EMI shielding for excellent immunity to radio-frequency electromagnetic fields, via internal shields, the metal housing, and the chassis shield.
