Fiber Optic Test Instrument Exactly Simulates Field Applications



A new fiber optics field simulation test set for use in manufacturing test areas, field testing, central offices, head ends, hub sites, and shows and exhibits is being introduced by M2 Optics, Inc. of San Marcos, California.

The M2 Fiber Lab 2400MX(TM) is a fiber management package featuring four LGX style module slots that house couplers, WDMs, CWDMs, additional incremental fiber, fixed or variable attenuators, and a portable latching optical switch module. Designed to exactly simulate field applications, each spool in this rack mountable or tabletop test set has both ends terminated on the front panel with SC/APC standard connectors or other user specified options.

Available with any of three installed fiber lengths with 1-, 2-, 4- or 8 dB of real fiber attenuation, or 1 to 25 km in each of three individual attenuation areas, the M2 Fiber Lab 2400MX(TM) spools can be configured in series or to the various LGX style modules with short patch cords to emulate the real fiber attenuation or length, coupling or splitting, or switching required. Fiber crimping and breakage is totally eliminated.
