Fiber Optic Sensor features hybrid structure.

Press Release Summary:

Integrating illumination optics and receiver circuitry in sensor head, Series CZ-V20 employs 3 separate, high-intensity RGB LED light sources, which transmit red, green, and blue light onto target surface. Fiber optic cable transmits RGB light through optical system in sensor head, producing uniform beam spot. Polarizing filter cancels reflections from glossy surfaces. Detection performance is virtually unaffected by shape, position, angle, or surface luster.

New RGB Super Sensor is World's First Hybrid Structure

The CZ-V20 Series is the World's first sensor to integrate illumination optics and receiver circuitry in the sensor head. This new "hybrid structure" represents a dramatic new sensor design providing enhanced detection with greatly improved stability.

The new CZ-V employs three separate, high-intensity RGB LED light sources making it the highest power illumination system available in its class. A fiberoptic cable transmits the RGB light through an optical system in the sensor head producing a powerful, uniform beam spot.

During operation, the CZ-V's separate RGB LEDs transmit red, green and blue light onto the target surface. The received signal from each color is converted into 16-bit data in the receiver to enable color recognition. A proprietary algorithm, developed by Keyence, analyzes the individual RGB data and automatically determines the optimum combination and intensity of red, green or blue light to provide accurate and stable detection. The new CZ-V20 sensor is the first-in-its-class to employ this technology.

The CZ-V provides three detection modes: SUPER I (Super intensity), COLOR + I. And COLOR. The SUPER I Mode achieves unrivaled detection power for accurate detection of dark targets. COLOR + I and COLOR Modes can easily differentiate even the slightest color change.

The detection performance of the CZ-V is virtually unaffected by shape, position, angle or surface luster. A polarizing filter cancels reflections from glossy surfaces. Target recognition is based only on actual color components.

The CZ-V21 Amplifier can store data for four target types simultaneously. Four separate outputs help simplify setup and eliminate the need for complex programming. Additional amplifier functions include: a shift function to compensate for environmental changes, external calibration, "One-Touch" automatic calibration, an attenuation function, three timer functions and a dual digital display of current and set values.

Proven applications for the CZ-V exist in virtually every industry including automotive, semiconductor, electrical/electronic, pharmaceutical, food processing and packaging, printing, rubber and plastic, metal fabrication, construction and R&D.
