Fiber-Optic Illuminators integrate with vision systems.

Press Release Summary:

Portable MH21 illuminators use 21 W metal-halide, high-intensity discharge (HID) lamps that produce average of 900 lumens at color temperature of 6500 K. They require 12 V to operate and have life time of 1000 to 2000 hr. Four models are differentiated by type of shutter: electronic on/off, mechanically adjustable, without shutter, or with both electronic and mechanical shutters. Conquest Global Announces Availability of Ultra-Compact Fiber Optic Illuminators

Arcadia, Calif., August 22, 2002 - Conquest Global, Inc. (CGI) announces the availability of a family of ultra-compact, portable fiberoptic illuminators that are ideal for integration into industrial and scientific vision systems and for many other applications where a small, portable light source is required. The MH21 fiberoptic illuminators measure just 4.5" x 3.2" x 2.3" and weigh less than a pound.

Designed to facilitate integration into a variety of vision systems, these light sources produce little heat radiation, require a minimal amount of space, and feature very quiet operation. The MH21 family consists of four models, each differentiated by the type of shutter: an electronic on/off shutter, a mechanically adjustable shutter, without a shutter, or with a combination of both the electronic and mechanical shutters. All MH21 models are available as completely housed units or as light engines, and each can be customized to fit most
any OEM requirement.

In addition to being compact and easy to integrate, the MH21 illuminators also feature long-life and reliable, efficient operation. The MH21 illuminators use a 21-watt metal-halide high-intensity discharge (HID) lamp that produces an average of 900 lumens (without fiber) at a color temperature equal to that of the sun (6500 K). They have a lifetime of 1000- to 2000-hours and require just 12 volts to operate, making them functional almost anywhere with just a simple battery pack or small power supply.

The MH21 illuminators accept most standard fiberoptic light guides/cables. Cost for the housed units is $420 to $650, depending on the model and quantity chosen. Several accessories are available, including an AC to DC converter, a belt battery pack and clip, and a cigarette lighter adapter. Replacement lamps and ballasts are also available.

Founded in 1993, Conquest Global, Inc. (CGI), established itself as a leader in the design and fabrication of control systems and cooling mechanisms for medical lasers, industrial lasers and specialty lighting systems and components. In response to market opportunities, CGI divested its laser cooling and control business in 2000 and started focusing exclusively on the lighting business. The company is now dedicated to providing
complete high-quality solutions to the video projection and specialty lighting markets. With an emphasis on the UV portion of the spectrum, the company's high-performance products feature rugged designs that are highly integratable.
