Fiber Optic Duplexer Modules enable 2-way data transfer.

Press Release Summary:

With cross-talk immunity up to 40 dB, HOD Series Duplexers provide 2-way data transfer over single fiber cable. WDM type provides full duplex over single fiber and is available with 850 nm emitter and 1,300 nm detector or 1,300 nm emitter and 850 nm detector. WD type consists of 2 signals sent simultaneously in same direction over single fiber and has 850 nm emitter and 1,300 nm detector. Active Coupler type is half duplex over single fiber with 850 nm emitter and detector.

Honeywell Announces the Availability of the HOD Series Fiber Optic Duplexer Modules

High- performance modules in industry-standard housings, available in standard or customized configurations

FREEPORT, Ill., February 11, 2005 - Honeywell [NYSE: HON] today announced the availability of the HOD Series Fiber Optic Duplexer modules suitable for demanding, high-performance applications like fiber optic security, systems, data communications, remote sensing and control, and test equipment. Honeywell developed the products from proven military designs to provide measurable performance superiority.

HOD Series Duplexers provide a means of two-way data transfer over a single fiber cable, delivering significant savings by reducing the installed cost of a fiber network. Cross-talk immunity is up to 40 dB, minimizing data corruption. The industry standard footprints allow ease of design, and the customized configurations solve customer-specific needs in industrial sensing, aerospace, oil and gas, smart civil structures, utilities and power generation applications.

"HOD Series Duplexers present significant cost savings, minimum data corruption and measurable performance superiority to our customers," said Ian Anderson, product support manager. "In addition, our ability to customize solutions can solve virtually any customer specific needs."

Honeywell Duplexer modules support three application/configuration types: Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM), Wavelength Division (WD) Combiners/Splitters and Active Couplers. The WDM type is full duplex over a single fiber. Module one contains an 850 nm emitter and a 1300 nm detector, while module two contains a 1300 nm emitter and an 850 nm detector. WDM applications are CCTV/video surveillance, data communications and remote sensing and control. The WD type consists of two signals sent simultaneously in the same direction over a single fiber. Modules one and two both contain an 850 nm emitter and a 1300 nm detector. WD applications are light source meters and data communications (doubling bandwidth). The Active Coupler type is half duplex over a single fiber (bi-directional, but not simultaneously). Modules one and two both contain an 850 nm emitter and detector. Active Coupler applications include data communications, remote sensing and control and fiber loop back.
