Press Release Date: 5/11/04 Body Text: JST Corporation announces the addition of the small form factor MU type optical fiber connector which offers smaller size, lighter weight and higher density than other optical fiber connectors. The MU connector has a mechanical push-pull design latch for easy operation. Keying prevents rotational misalignment. The MU connector is an industry standard fiber optic connector in Japan and is used in many telecommunication, LAN, MAN, and WAN applications. MU type optical fiber connectors offer excellent packaging density as well as exceptional performance and value. JST offers the Simplex MU type optical fiber connector pre-assembled, with ferrule included, in either singlemode or multimode. They have a maximum insertion loss of 0.5dB with a minimum return loss of 40dB in singlemode version. The multimode version has a maximum insertion loss of 0.3dB and a minimum return loss of 22dB. The connectors feature 1.25 mm Zirconia ferrules and support 0.9 mm and 2 mm cable types. Additionally the MU type connectors conform to JISC5983 and IEC61754-6 standards. JST also offers Simplex MU type optical fiber adapters with a maximum insertion loss of 0.3db. The panel mount adapter sleeve is made of Zirconia.
