Fiber Optic Assemblies offer hermetic, feed-through versions.

Press Release Summary:

Hermetically sealed assemblies and bulkhead feed-throughs are available in ARINC 801 circular connector format for fiber optic interconnects. Designed for aerospace applications requiring optimal environmental and pressure sealing, fiber optic assemblies can achieve sealing rates in excess of 1 x 10-5 He/sec. Versions are available in all standard shell size/insert arrangements for multi-mode (50/125 µm and 62.5/125 µm) and single-mode optical fiber.

Amphenol Aerospace High Speed Solutions Develops Hermetic and Feed-Through ARINC 801 Fiber Optic Assemblies

Sidney, NY — Amphenol Aerospace (NYSE: APH), a global leader in interconnect technologies, now offers hermetically sealed assemblies and bulkhead feed-throughs in the ARINC 801 circular connector format for fiber optic interconnects.  These assemblies are designed for aerospace applications demanding a high level of environmental and pressure sealing.  Using processes and materials originally developed for Amphenol’s industry-leading hermetically sealed electrical connectors, these fiber optic assemblies can achieve sealing rates in excess of 1X10^-5 He/sec.  They are available in all standard shell size/insert arrangements for multi-mode (50/125um and 62.5/125um) and single-mode optical fiber.

These assemblies are available in two designs:

Sealed assemblies – customer specified optical sub-assemblies (fiber type, length, lead terminations) are installed into the connector and the back of the connector is sealed.

Bulkhead feed-through – a panel mounted, double-ended jam-nut receptacle with pin-pin contacts

Amphenol supplies the full line of ARINC 801 connectors in shell sizes ranging from 11 to 25 and fiber counts from 2 to 32.  ARINC 801 termini are available in multi-mode, single-mode, and single-mode APC versions.  All ARINC 801 connectors and termini are fully compliant with industry specifications and have been tested to the most stringent aerospace requirements.  Amphenol also maintains full-service cable assembly facilities to design and fabricate any type of fiber optic cable harness from simple jumper cables to multi-branched harnesses.

Jared Sibrava, Director of Amphenol Aerospace’s High Speed Solutions Division says, “The combination of hermetic assemblies and feed-through connectors to our ARINC 801 portfolio provides discriminating solutions for our customers as they integrate fiber optics into platforms for Commercial Aerospace and Defense applications.”
