Compact Videojet® 7210, 7310 Fiber Laser Coders Provide Unmatched Versatility, Maximum Uptime

WOOD DALE, Ill. (USA) - September 16, 2008 - The new Videojet® 7210 and 7310 fiber laser coders from Videojet Technologies Inc. are compact, fast and highly reliable for applications such as direct parts marking and unique identification coding on a variety of metal, plastic and other hard-to-mark materials. Available in 10 and 20 watts of output power, respectively, the Videojet 7210 and 7310 fiber laser coders provide a compact mechanical design with a small marking head and straight-out or 90-degree beam options for increased versatility in tight spaces. Less-frequent maintenance intervals maximize uptime and reduce costs.

"Combining superior high-speed scanning technology and a choice of standard or high-resolution marking heads, the Videojet 7210 and 7310 are the smallest and easiest-to-integrate pulsed fiber laser coders available worldwide," says Dr. Manfred Suddendorf, product manager for Videojet's laser business unit. "The Videojet 7210 and 7310 set up quickly and integrate seamlessly into even the most complex production lines. To ensure uptime, the lasers offer remote application diagnostics and controls that do not require a PC."

The new lasers use a special air-cooled optical fiber as the laser medium, instead of gas, which is used in CO2 laser coders, and feature coding speeds up to 350 and 700 characters per second, respectively. Both coders can quickly apply complex variable data such as high-quality identification matrix codes, bar codes, logos and serial numbers, both on moving and static products. The coders also can mark nearly any metal, ceramic or plastic part with uncompromising quality, and are ideally suited for demanding marking applications, such as automotive and electronic parts, medical devices, tools and other instruments.

Additional advantages of the Videojet 7210 and 7310 laser coders include the ability to choose from 17 languages displayed on the user interface, along with password-protected security levels. With high reliability and no consumables such as inks, solvents or compressed air required, the laser systems set standards for economical and maintenance-free operation.

The launch of the Videojet fiber laser coder family expands Videojet's broad product identification portfolio. Videojet now offers all laser marking solutions, from CO2 to Nd: YAG to fiber laser coding. The Videojet 7210 and 7310 fiber laser coders will be available in the third quarter of 2008.
