Manheim, PA (August, 2007) - Fenner Precision, a recognized global leader for belts, tires and pulleys for use in paper propulsion, motion control and power transmission applications, has announced that their EPDM StretchBands(TM) have received a UL 94HB approval from the Underwriters Laboratories. Underwriters Laboratories is one of the world's leading product safety testing and certification organizations, offering several categories of certification. The UL 94HB certification makes Fenner's EPDM StretchBands acceptable for use as part of a device or appliance with respect to its flammability.

The majority of the Fenner Precision StretchBands are manufactured under the EPDM material. StretchBands are also produced using Hypalon(TM) and silicone. All StretchBands are manufactured in Fenner's Lincoln, UK plant. They have been producing belts for over 30 years, dating back to the 1970's when Fenner provided printer bands for the printing industry. Fenner now serves several global customers, producing high-volume solid StretchBands for use in ATM machines, as well as producing belts for paper transport in low to high-end commercial photocopiers and collators worldwide. They continue to work on new product options for this market, focusing on even greater accuracy and speed for the devices in which their belts are used.

Because of Fenner's unique manufacturing process, most band sizes can be manufactured without dedicated tooling, resulting in efficiencies for customers when it comes to costs and speed of delivery. "We offer fast, flexible prototypes at a very low cost, using a wide range of materials. This is a big advantage of working with a full-service partner like Fenner," says Kevin Walker, Technical Manager at Fenner Precision. Walker also notes that the flexbility in their manufacturing processes allows customers to consider new alternatives to their current belting requirements, with little time and investment.

StretchBands are available unreinforced, elastic, fabric-reinforced or fixed center drive. Sizes range from 75mm to 1500mm long and 10mm to 300mm wide. Standard belt thickness is 1mm. Normal operating temperature range for EPDM is -40 to 60C, Hypalon is -10 to 30C and silicone is -50 to 150C. All are RoHS compliant.

Fenner Precision is a global leader in the design and development of belts, pulleys and tires for paper propulsion applications including consumer printers, office machines, mail handling machines and money handling equipment. The company also manufactures specialty technical coated fabrics for low friction and high temperature applications. Fenner Precision is a wholly owned subsidiary of Fenner PLC.
