FCI Thermal Mass Flow Switches and Flow Meters Receive IEC Approval

Precision Flow Instruments for Air, Gas and Liquid Service

San Marcos, CA-June 29, 2007-Designed for precision flow switching and flow measurement in rugged industrial applications, FCI's FLT93 Switch, ST98 Flow Meter, and GF90 and GF92 Flow Meters have received IEC/IECx approvals for their safe use from the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).

The IEC prepares and publishes international standards for electrical, electronic and related technologies. These serve as a basis for national standardization and as references when drafting international tenders and contracts. Through its members, the IEC promotes international cooperation on all questions of electrotechnical standardization, such as the assessment of conformity to standards, in the fields of electricity, electronics and related technologies.

FCI's advanced thermal mass flow switches and flow meters are recognized worldwide for their precision flow measurement, high reliability in rugged operating conditions, low maintenance, long-life and low cost-of-ownership. Their highly intelligent microprocessor-based designs feature a no-moving parts thermal mass flow sensor, which makes them ideal for a broad range of industries, including: chemical, energy and power, food/beverage, oil/gas, pharmaceutical, water/wastewater treatment and more.

FLT93 Switch
The Flow/Level/Temperature (FLT) Flow Switch reliably monitors the flow, level and temperature of liquids, gases, slurries, syrups, lubricants, coolants and more. It is ideal for tank level monitoring and pump low-flow protection applications. The FLT features a wide set-point range, which varies according to service media (liquid, gas or foam), beginning from 0.01 to 3 SFPS (0.003 to 0.9 SMPS) in water-based liquids. IEC approved models include: FLT93B Basic, FLT93C Sanitary Insertion, FLT93F Insertion Ultra Fast Response, FLT93L Inline Low Flow and FLT93S Insertion Fast Response.

ST98 Flow Meter
The rugged ST98 Flow Meter sets the industry standard for performance and value with a reliable thermal mass flow sensor in a smart electronics package. The ST98 operates over a wide flow range from 0.21 to 172 NMPS in air with a standard flow accuracy of +1 percent of reading, +0.5 percent of full scale. It is ideal for a wide range air/gas flow measurement applications, including natural gas or methane monitoring, compressed air metering, industrial HVAC systems, nitrogen blanketing and combustion air. IEC approved models include the ST98, ST98B Basic and ST98L Inline.

GF90 Insertion Flow Meter
The GF90 is a heavy-duty industrial flow meter designed for applications that include: flare gas, combustion air to boilers, scrubber balancing, exhaust stacks and more. It is suitable for use in ducts or pipes with a minimum 2-inch (50 mm) nominal inside diameter. Flow sensitivity ranges from 0.25 to 1600 SFPS (0.08 to 488 NMPS) at a standard temperature of 70°F (21.1°C) and pressure of 14.7 psia (1.013 bar (a). It is available for service in fluid temperatures from -100 to 850ºF (-73 to 454ºC) and pressures to 1000 psig [69 bar (g)].

GF92 Inline Flow Meter
The GF92 is a heavy-duty flow meter that offers excellent low-flow measurement characteristics and is ideal for compressor fuel monitoring, nitrogen purge monitoring, digester gas monitoring and hydrogen make-up gas. It can be used in tubing or pipe lines ranging in size from 0.125 to 3 inches (3.2 to 76mm). Flow sensitivity ranges from 0.006 to 2000 SCFM (0.01 to 3398 NCMH) at a standard temperature of 70°F (21.1C) and a pressure of 14.7 psia [1.013 bar (a)]. It operates in fluid temperatures from -50 to +350°F (-45 to 177°C) and at pressures to 1000 psig [69 bar (g)].
