FCI Offers Flexible Circuit Assemblies to Increase Design Flexibility

FCI, a leading supplier of connectors and interconnect systems, has introduced the Flexible ConnectionsSM series. This new FCI product family provides expert integration of flexible circuitry and PCB connectors to preserve system performance with mechanical and signal integrity.

The Flexible Connections family includes flex assemblies, fine-pitch jumpers, high-density BGA-based flex assemblies, and rigid flexes using press-fit backplane connectors.

"These products extend interconnect limits so customers can innovate." says David Hansen, FCI Global Product Marketing Manager. "Connector technology, flex circuit technology and design services all blend to help customers perfect their own designs."

FCI's Flexible Connections incorporate many of the benefits of flex circuit-based interconnections, including signal routing contained in flat "2D" spaces to improve ventilation, and natural mechanical forgiveness of flex circuitry that reduces stress on surface-mount solder joints. Furthermore, flex assemblies reduce manufacturing complexity and costs and the low-density flex materials reduce overall system weight. Rolled annealed copper construction supports repeated movement and vibration in dynamic applications.

The flexible circuits used in PCB connectors increase interconnection possibilities, electro-mechanical flexibility, thus increasing design and manufacturing freedom. A variety of shielding and materials options support electrical and EMI requirements.

The Flexible Connections family is part of FCI's versatile family of MezzSelect(TM) Mezzanine connectors. They are supported by technical information and innovative design tools that can be found at www.mezzselect.com.
