Fastrax uPatch OEM GPS Receiver Powers Tritech GPS Mouse

Helsinki, Finland - September 26, 2006 - Fastrax Ltd., a leading provider of open and portable OEM GPS Software Development Kit environments and programmable OEM GPS receivers, today announced that Tritech Ltd., a leading distributor of electronic components, has chosen to include the Fastrax uPatch receiver module in the new Tritech GPS Mouse product.

The Tritech GPS Mouse is a compact, standalone GPS unit suited for PC, automotive and industrial applications requiring a cost-effective, external NMEA-only receiver. The unit features a rugged, small-footprint ABS plastic housing; USB, CMOS or RS232 serial connectors; and connectivity to a battery backup for low-power modes (optional).

The Tritech GPS Mouse is based on the Fastrax uPatch102 receiver family, which uses the Sony CXD2951-GL4 single chip with an integrated high-performance patch antenna and provides added application flexibility through a selectable baud rate feature.

All Fastrax uPatch receiver modules offer very high navigation performance and are ideal for applications in which high performance and low cost are key issues. Typical Hot Start Time to First Fix (TTFF) is 3 seconds, while state-of-the-art signal acquisition and tracking circuitry enables reliable navigation with weak signals and in difficult environments.

"The new GPS Mouse is the latest extension of our successful collaboration with Fastrax. It was developed in order to answer a demand both in our market and worldwide for a GPS mouse with high navigation performance in a very small form factor. Fastrax is a trusted partner for us, and our close partnership enables us to provide better service to our customers by bringing highly competitive products to the market rapidly and efficiently," said Oriel Sallary, Sales Manager, Tritech.

"We are delighted to work with Tritech, and they have proven themselves as a top-tier distribution partner through their focus and dedication to customer service. The new GPS Mouse by Tritech is a great example of how our distributor partners create outstanding added value for their own customers by building on our open and flexible OEM GPS platform," said Fredrik Borgstrom, EMEA Sales Director, Fastrax.

Global Positioning System (GPS) is a worldwide satellite navigation infrastructure funded and controlled by the U.S. Department of Defense, originally developed for U.S. military purposes. GPS provides satellite signals that enable GPS receivers to calculate their exact position and velocity. The GPS infrastructure has three segments. The space segment consists of 24 satellites that orbit the earth every 12 hours. The control segment consists of tracking stations located around the world, with the master control station located at Falcon Air Force Base in Colorado. The user segment consists of GPS receivers and users utilizing the information provided by the system. GPS is widely used in applications such as marine navigation.
