Adapting the manufacturing process to comply with lumber industry
BOWLING GREEN, KY (March 2004)- January 1, 2004, the lumber industry enacted a plan to convert from CCA treated lumber to primarily ACQ treated lumber. CCA is made out of three base chemicals: chromium, copper and arsenic. Of the three, chromium and arsenic are toxic to humans. In comparison, ACQ lumber contains no hazardous compounds and is easy to work with and has more values than any outdoor lumber.
Due to this change and concerns over how ACQ treated lumber will affect fasteners, Remington has altered their manufacturing plating process to incorporate an ACQ compatible plating with their Powder Actuated Tool fasteners. Remington guarantees that there will be no issues with customers using PAT fasteners 1-_" in length and longer with pressure treated material.
Remington Powder Actuated Tools are UL-listed and available in single shot and semi-automatic models. Remington power fasteners are available in a variety of lengths according to the application and are made of a special steel alloy austempered for hardness and zinc plated for corrosion resistance.
