FANUC Robotics Demonstrates Intelligent Deburring at IMTS 2006

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich., Sept. 6, 2006 - FANUC Robotics America, Inc.'s
M-16iB robot will perform intelligent deburring with vision during IMTS 2006 at
McCormick Place in Chicago, Sept. 6-13, booth #8418.

At the show, FANUC Robotics' ROBOGUIDE® simulation software will download
a deburring program to an M-16iB robot using 3D CAD part data. The robot,
equipped with a FANUC iRVision 3D laser vision sensor will measure the work
position and automatically adjust the program to demonstrate a deburring
operation. The use of vision simplifies system configuration by eliminating many
deburring fixtures.

The demonstration shows how easy it is to use ROBOGUIDE's Cad-to-Path
Programming feature. A user defines the process requirements on the CAD
model, and ROBOGUIDE automatically generates the robot program.

M-16iB Intelligent Robot
The six-axis M-16iB series is the latest generation robotic solution for a variety of
medium-payload manufacturing and system processes such as material removal,
part transfer, machine tending, part and case packing, dispensing and assembly.
The robot's compact, cost effective and flexible design simplifies installation and
maximizes reach, even in compact workspace environments.

The series includes the M-16iB/20 for applications requiring payloads up to 20
kg. The M-16iB/20 features the highest motion speeds in its class for maximum
performance and productivity. The M-16iB/10L offers a 10-kg payload and a
maximum reach of 1,885 mm, giving it the largest work envelope in its class.

"Manufacturers will appreciate the compact, flexible design of the M-16iB series,"
said Virgil Wilson, product manager for FANUC Robotics. "Its design allows the
robot to accommodate larger parts in the work envelope. This means that no
other robot in its class can carry as large and heavy of a payload."

The M-16iB uses FANUC Robotics' new R-J3iC Controller, which uses highperformance
hardware and the latest advances in network, integrated vision, and
motion control functions, providing a level of intelligence never offered before.
FANUC Robotics America, Inc. designs, engineers and manufactures industrial
robots and robotic systems for a wide range of applications including arc and
spot welding, material handling (machine tending, picking, packing, palletizing),
material removal, assembly, paint finishing and dispensing. The company also
provides application-specific software, controls, vision products, and complete
support services. After 24 years of success, FANUC Robotics maintains its
position as the leading robotics company in the Americas. A subsidiary of
FANUC LTD in Japan, the company has facilities in Chicago; Los Angeles;
Charlotte, N.C.; Cincinnati and Toledo, Ohio; Toronto; Montreal; Aguascalientes,
