PCI-Slot Expandable Fanless Embedded Computer
Advantech, a leading IPC service provider, delivers visionary and trustworthy industrial computing solutions that empower businesses, is happy to announce the availability of a new series of fanless embedded computers with PCI expansion slots. The ARK-5280 A2 series are powerful, fanless, expandable integrated systems with ruggedized designs. This compact embedded form factor can be powered by an Intel® Pentium® M or Celeron® M processor. The system features a rugged chassis and PCI expansion slots, including one PCI and one PCI/ISA shared slot. ARK-5280 A2 series also has DVI support, and an embedded Intel 82551QM chip that supports Wake-on-LAN, which is especially good in environments where access is limited or difficult.
Comprehensive I/O Interface
The comprehensive I/O interface and optional accessories enable the ARK-5280 A2 series to accommodate a variety of scenarios. The A2 version supports both IDE and Serial ATA hard drives, and two 200-pin SODIMM sockets support up to 2GB DR200/266/333 memory.
One VGA output, one DVI output, optional LVDS kits, and audio jacks, line-in/line-out, plus mic in, give a great selection for display applications such as digital signage. Three RS-232 and one RS-232/422/485 serial ports satisfy most industrial needs for analog signal control. ARK-5280 A2 offers plenty of I/O expansion connectors or slots for industrial automation applications as well, such as LVDS or LPT port.
Fanless, Ruggedized System
Designed for harsh environments. The ruggedized system design withstands 5Grms vibration (Compact Flash), and passed 50G shock (Compact Flash). Outfitted with a 2.5" HDD, the system can withstand 1Grms vibration, and passed 20G shock with flying colors. ARK-5280 A2 without add-on card can tolerate -20 ~ 55° C (with Compact Flash), and 0 ~ 45° C(with hard drive).
Flexible Configurations
ARK-5280 A2's open frame embedded platform concept provides flexibility of system configuration for different applications, such as flight information display controller, industrial DVR, and visual inspection equipment. With the addition of a motion card and a video grabber, the ARK-5280 could form the basis for a visual inspection application, such as AOI (Auto Optical Inspection). Or with the video capture card alone, the rugged platform design makes an excellent choice for industrial DVR. The compact system dimensions, four serial ports, and two expansion slots offer great controller interfaces for manufacturing equipment.
The previous version of ARK-5280 has already built a track record of successes, including Pudong International Airport Flight Information Display System (FIDS) in China, and manufacturing automation controllers in Taiwan.
ARK-5280 A2 fanless embedded box computer is also available in a non-branded OEM edition.
