Capital Safety Australia Introduces Their Nomex®/Kevlar® High Temperature Fall Protection Range

Offers extended protection for Hot Work and the Utility industry, eliminating the risk of your fall protection equipment igniting or melting!

DBI-SALA, a Capital Safety brand solely dedicated to the fall protection market, has announced the launch of their NEW Nomex®/Kevlar® High Temperature fall protection range.

The new specialist range consists of a harness and two shock absorbing lanyard models designed to cover the majority of applications encountered in high temperature work environments. Constructed from Nomex® and Kevlar®, better known for their heat, flame and cut resistant properties, the combination of these two materials form the basis of Capital Safety's new High Temperature fall protection range.

The range is ideal for use in 'Hot Work' such: as welding, flame cutting and grinding, where sparks and slag can easily compromise standard polyester webbing harnesses and lanyards. The use of Nomex®/ Kevlar®, combined with dielectric hardware on the harness, also makes it the ideal choice for Utility industry workers facing high-voltage electrical surroundings. Workers in these situations are faced with applications where static build up and static energy transfer can cause unexpected arc flashes that can ignite or melt standard fall protection harnesses and lanyards, leading to a failure to arrest a fall.

"The range is quite unique in that it utilises Kevlar® thread in its stitching, and a removable Nomex® cover that protects the lanyard shock pack casing," says Rick Millar, Technical Manager for Capital Safety, Australia and New Zealand. "Strangely enough, these critical components that aid the products resistance to heat, cuts and abrasions, as well as simplifying inspection, are not always found on other Kevlar® harnesses and lanyards available on the market."

The equipment is tough and durable. Not only are they resistant to extreme heat, cuts and abrasions, the lanyards also cater for workers who have a combined body weight with tools and equipment between 50kg and 160kg. Additionally, the lanyards provides a solution to the issues revolving around compatible hardware, forced roll-out and side gate loading that have been present on connecting hardware used in industry for some time.

DBI-SALA's i-Safe(TM) intelligent safety system is built into every Nomex®/Kevlar® High Temperature harness and lanyard to track inspections, control inventory and manage information. i-Safe(TM) utilises RFID technology which is equipped on most DBI-SALA products, together with web-enabled information management, to take fall protection to a new level of performance and safety.
