Safe Automation Using Profinet
Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) has expanded its Simatic Safety Integrated range of products for safety applications in the production industry with fail-safe components for Profinet. These include a fail-safe Simatic S7 CPU as well as the ET 200S and ET 200pro I/O systems with Profisafe module. Just one range of products permits users to solve both standard and safety-relevant tasks using Profinet and Profibus.
The new Simatic CPU 317F-2 PN/DP fail-safe controller has Profibus and Profinet interfaces. The modular and multi-functional ET 200pro I/O system with the high IP65/67 degree of protection for installations without a cabinet is the first of its type with fail-safe Profinet l/Os. Automation solutions for standard and safety-relevant tasks can be generated via Profinet and Profibus using the Simatic S7 distributed safety engineering software. The safety solutions comply with the IEC 61508 (SIL 3), EN 954 (Category 4) and NFPA 79 standards as well as the IEC 62061 sector standard. Existing Profibus components are incorporated into new Profinet architectures using Industrial Ethernet/Profibus links.
