Latest ARCHIBUS/FM Release Offers AutoCAD? 2005 Compatibility

New V. 14.3 Maximizes Productivity for Facilities and Infrastructure Management

Boston, Massachusetts, May 11, 2004 ? ARCHIBUS, Inc.?developer of the # 1 facilities and infrastructure management solution in the world?announces that users can now capitalize on the latest productivity enhancements in the new AutoCAD 2005. This lets them easily and cost-effectively manage their facilities, infrastructure, and facilities-related equipment throughout these assets? life cycles. The new ARCHIBUS/FM Version 14.3, which includes new AutoCAD-specific functionality such as table-style formatting and extensive use of the new .DWF format for the Web, made its debut at the International ARCHIBUS/FM Users? Conference held April 18-21 in Boston, Massachusetts.

Effectively Unite Data and Drawings

With AutoCAD 2005?s new features such as table formatting, ARCHIBUS/FM users can see enterprise data in the context of their properties, buildings, floors, and rooms and turn this raw data into meaningful information. In addition, the ability to easily batch publish structured data to .DWF format lets users push content from AutoCAD 2005 directly to the Web as a database of active graphics that drives workflows, connects different departments, synchronizes levels of management, and links work sites. The result is better visualization and easier access to enterprise information.

?Throughout their 20-year partnership, both Autodesk and ARCHIBUS, Inc. have understood that customers are constantly seeking ways to perform their jobs with greater speed and accuracy,? says John Sanders, Vice President of Autodesk?s Platform Technology Division. ?The integration between ARCHIBUS/FM and the new AutoCAD 2005 offers more ways than ever to cost-effectively link data and drawings, freeing users from time-consuming activities and drastically increasing their productivity."

"Our joint relationship with Autodesk and the ADN [Autodesk Developer Network] goes back two decades. Over this period, both large and small organizations have come to rely on both our solutions to manage critical asset infrastructure," said Steve Segarra, Chief Technology Officer of ARCHIBUS, Inc. "Even from this long-term vantage, ARCHIBUS/FM V. 14.3 is an outstanding release. For example, we use the updated AutoCAD 2005 tool palettes to present the Process Navigator, which expresses business activities?such as a new space chargeback program?as a set of focused, directed list of tasks that users need to perform as part of their organizations? missions. All these tasks are database-driven and centrally defined by role, so a large staff can be coordinated with minimal effort."

Productivity Enhancements

ARCHIBUS/FM Version 14.3 also includes enhancements that maximize user productivity. The Virtual Private ARCHIBUS feature with roles-based security allows users to develop separate data repositories for each site, building, or department while simultaneously maintaining information in a centralized location to track holdings and performance across sites or business functions. As a result, users can control data access on a ?need to know? basis and monitor facility and infrastructure status across geographic or departmental boundaries.

In addition, the new ARCHIBUS/FM Automatic boundary discovery command lets users perform searches for room designators?attributed room blocks that are typically part of the room schedule information. This drastically reduces the time required to log new drawings into ARCHIBUS/FM.

Availability

The ARCHIBUS/FM V.14.3 English edition is scheduled for release in mid-June and will be available to both new and existing users. Current users who participate in the ARCHIBUS Annual Software Subscription program receive the enhancements upon request, with no additional charge. End-users with previous versions of ARCHIBUS/FM can upgrade at a fee. The upgrade includes documentation in both hard and electronic copies. V.14.3 is initially available in English only; localized versions of the new software will be rolled out in subsequent months.
