Fabrico and Kawamura Sangyo Co., Inc. - Working Together to Provide High Performance Insulating Materials for Hybrid and Electric Vehicles

Kennesaw, GA - Fabrico, the leader in design and manufacturing services for flexible materials and adhesives, and its parent company, EIS, are working with Kawamura Sangyo Co., Inc. to provide high-performance insulating materials to manufacturers of hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and electric vehicles (EVs).

Kawamura Sangyo Co., Inc. is developing new insulating materials that will meet the requests of the HEV/EV market for superior heat and hydrolysis resistance. Working with DuPont NOMEX® and PPS film Torelina®, Kawamura Sangyo has been successful in developing an H-class insulating material that will provide electrical insulation up to 180◦C. This H-class insulating material is an adhesive-free laminate that is very thin, offers high electrical insulation reliability, has enhanced heat dissipation, and has high slot fill characteristics for use with high power/high efficiency motors. Called Namli® NSN, the material consists of two layers of NOMEX® and one layer of Torelina® which are laminated together. Since no adhesive is used, there's no negative effect from adhesive deterioration.

Fabrico will use Namli® NSN to provide HEV and EV manufacturers with slit to width and die-cut insulation to precisely fit their applications. Combining EIS' experienced electrical insulation design team with Fabrico's broad range of in-house converting equipment means that Fabrico is well-suited to work with HEV and EV manufacturers to meet their critical needs for better electrical insulation as HEV and EV motors become more powerful and deliver higher performance.
