Fabric Treated with Repearl Fluorochemicals to be Featured in the Thakoon Women's Ready-to-Wear Fall 2006 Fashion Show

MIC Specialty Chemicals Co-sponsors Women's Ready-to-Wear Fall 2006 Collection by Designer Thakoon

NEW YORK (February 3, 2006) - Mitsubishi International Corporation subsidiary MIC Specialty Chemicals (MSC) will co-sponsor a show on Tuesday, February 7, featuring the Fall 2006 fashions of Thai-born designer Thakoon Panichgul. The show is part of Olympus Fashion Week. MIC Specialty Chemicals markets Repearl fluorochemicals that impart water, oil and stain-repellent properties. The show will include jackets featuring wool and cotton fabric treated with Repearl, and will also include handbags made using Repearl-branded cotton khaki.

Repearl is a perfluoroalkyl-ethylacrylate-based fluororesin emulsion, characterized by high performance and ease of use. It has obvious applications in the fashion industry, but is also used on garments that require a medical barrier. It is used to treat paper used for wrapping, packaging and serving food. It is applied to residential as well as automotive carpeting. Repearl is used in umbrellas, gloves, hats, ties, luggage, shoes and boots, and it is added to the materials used to make tents, awnings, filters, partitions, tarpaulins and marine coverings. Mitsubishi International has been selling Repearl chemicals for more than ten years. Sales have been handled by MSC, which sources both fine and specialty chemicals for its customers in the Americas, since the subsidiary was established in 2002. The automobile, textiles, coatings, adhesives and disinfectants industries are among those serviced by MSC. MSC can be found online at www.micchem.com.

"In co-sponsoring this fashion show," commented MSC President Keiji Ohnishi, "we are inviting retailers to learn more about the Repearl brand. We're confident that once they learn about its outstanding effectiveness, they will want to request that their suppliers look to Repearl as the finish of choice for their fabric. Thakoon's fresh, vibrant perspective on fashion provides just the right setting for drawing attention to this wonderful family of products."

About Thakoon
Thailand born, Omaha-raised, and New York based, designer Thakoon Panichgul has been one of the most highly acclaimed new designers to emerge from the New York fashion scene; he has gained somewhat of a cult following among the fashion press, and is a favorite with top editors, stylists and celebrities. Thakoon is known for timelessly feminine designs which are as romantic and sensual as they are modern and innovative. His collection has been described as "forward-looking, respectful of the past, and not at all vintage. In fact, his delicate deconstructions are entirely modern, owing more to the Antwerp Six than to Vionnet."
