Eyelit's Award-Winning Integrated Manufacturing Execution (MES) Software Selected and Implemented by SEMATECH to Improve the Process of Collecting Critical Manufacturing Data

Implementation of Eyelit MES, completed in just eight weeks, drives manufacturing process improvements for SEMATECH's Mask Blank Development Center in Albany, New York

TORONTO-- Eyelit Inc., a manufacturing software provider for visibility, control and coordination of manufacturing operations for the aerospace & defense, electronics, life sciences, semiconductor and solar industries, announced today that SEMATECH, a global consortium of the world's leading chip manufacturers, has selected Eyelit's Enterprise Manufacturing Execution Suite (MES) to replace its existing system. The software is implemented at SEMATECH's Mask Blank Development Center (MBDC), located at the College of Nanoscale Science and Engineering of the University at Albany.

The objective of SEMATECH's MBDC is to reduce the number of defects that arise from the manufacturing process. Eyelit's solution provides comprehensive tracking of WIP, raw materials, inventory, experiments, and tools. MBDC uses Eyelit MES to perform process analyses and to track defect statistics. The information collected is then used to perform corrective actions, which will ultimately improve the accuracy of the manufacturing process.

"We were rapidly outgrowing the capabilities of our system and needed an out-of-the-box solution that could grow with us," stated Anne Rudack, SEMATECH's EUV MBDC Operations Manager. "We were able to implement Eyelit in just eight weeks, while gaining the control and data discovery functions needed to meet our process improvement goals for the benefit of our members and partners."

"It became increasingly difficult for SEMATECH to determine the origin of defects as more and more variables were introduced into the process. Variables, such as recipe use, cycle time, carrier use, and other critical factors, were not easily tracked in the existing system. Eyelit provided a clear path for obtaining these variable values in order to allow process engineers and researchers to quickly uncover the cause of defects," stated Crispin Panyard, Vice-President of Operations for Eyelit Inc. "With a working model at SEMATECH, we can now demonstrate to leading semiconductor companies Eyelit's ability to drive down IT system costs. Eyelit's unique Legacy MES migration capability helps older wafer fabs to modernize, without negatively impacting a running factory."
