Guill's Advancements in Extrusion Tooling Accelerate Blow Molding Performance

New Model 1025 utilizes latest materials/blends for automotive, medical, specialty packaging and more. Guill's proprietary flow analysis software for extrusion tooling is contributing significantly to today's advancements in extrusion dies, as well as better engineering precision for extrusion blow molding. Designed to handle a wide variety of exotic materials including bioplastics, composites and advanced polymer blends, Guill's new Model 1025 serves a host of today's high-technology industries: medical, automotive, specialty packaging and more. "Because of our advanced flow analysis, we have much more knowledge today about the extrusion tooling process," says Bill Conley, Guill's Technical Sales Manager. "This process enables us to focus on any potential extrusion tooling problems as well as any concerns the customer may have on all end products, from achieving maximum throughput to wall thickness consistency, to precision preform and parts, as well as eliminating knit lines. Our customers can always demand a high degree of accuracy in all blow molding extrusion end products because of the investment that Guill has made in the latest extrusion tooling technology." Guill's newest Model 1025 yields 8.5" (215.9 mm) - 10" (254.0 mm) of core diameter and represents the latest tooling advancements for extrusion blow molding applications. Model 1025 is available in single layer, multi-layer, multiple stripes, co-extrusion, triple extrusion, as well as spiral and split flow designs. Guill engineers both precision converging or diverging dies and mandrels designed to hold tolerances as close as 0.0002" (0.000508 cm). Proper heat distribution is achieved via a band, cartridge or coil type heater, both of which are tested through our thermal analysis software. Custom flanges, purge valves and quick color change valve options are added to the interface with virtually any total extrusion system that our customers may require. According to Guill officials, the Model 1025 and all other Series 1000 Models for extrusion blow molding offers precision machining of heads, tips and dies, as well as the patented FeatherTouch alignment helps to avoid parison curl, curtaining, and webbing. It also makes the alignment of the extrusion tips and dies quick and easy. With a one-piece body and flow diverter, customers now achieve easy cleaning for quick changeovers of all tooling. That saves on labor and downtime for plant personnel. Guill's 50 Years Experience
With almost a half century of experience, Guill is recognized as a leading designer and manufacturer of extrusion tooling for advanced applications that include: medical tubing, multi-lumen tubing, multi-layer co-extruded products, profile products, and fiber optics. Guill has an established track record of outstanding performance for extrusion tooling for medical, marine, automotive, and pelletized products; wood composites; blow-molding; rubber and silicone; pipes and hoses; wires and cables, food and packaging as well as military applications. Since 1995, Guill has achieved ISO 9001 Certification. The ISO 9001 Standard guides the work processes on all business and manufacturing levels. The continual quest for manufacturing improvement is key to all daily efforts and end products. With the latest CAD/MCAD connected with FEA and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) systems, Guill engineers have developed the FlexiSpiral deflector and tip; the patented FeatherTouch die adjusting system for unrivaled concentricity; the SealRight system; and the QuickChange Manifold for rapid change of color and/or materials. Guill also offers inline heads and crossheads; no-leak water cooled heads; both industry standard and custom-made tips and dies; spiderless inline tips and dies; cartridge heater systems; flanges; breaker plates; swing gates; forming rolls; sizing dies; and other special equipment.
