Extrusion Plastometer determines melt index values.

Press Release Summary:

Designed to determine flow properties of polymers and plastics, Aflow Plastometer offers defined, adjustable pre-compacting of test material. System automatically controls stepless adjustment of test loads up to 50 kg, eliminating operator influence. Supporting all common worldwide standards, including ISO 1133 and ASTM D 1238, Aflow features automatic test sequences, automatic parameter control for maximum accuracy, and integral cleaning function.

Original Press Release:

Zwick Roell's New Xflow Series: the Right Extrusion Plastometer for Every Testing Situation

Zwick Roell, Ulm, Germany: As world experts in the field of plastics testing, the Zwick Roell Group has introduced a new, high-performance extrusion plastometer to its Xflow series. Like all Zwick's extrusion plastometers, the new 'Aflow' instrument delivers rapid, convenient determination of melt index values. The full Xflow series now includes: Aflow for 24-hour, high-throughput operation featuring operator-friendly automatic test sequences; Mflow for mid-level throughput and faster, more convenient determination of melt flow rate (MFR) and melt volume rate (MVR) in quality assurance and goods inwards checks; and, Cflow for cost-effective, stand-alone, low-throughput, manual testing.

Designed to determine the flow properties of polymers and plastics, the new Aflow extrusion plastometer offers defined, adjustable pre-compacting of the test material. Its automatic parameter control (APC) optimizes test parameters for maximum measuring accuracy, while its integral cleaning function makes life easier for the operator. All common worldwide standards, including ISO 1133 and ASTM D 1238, are supported.

Zwick's Xflow extrusion plastometers address those problems created by laborious and potentially dangerous manual weight loading in traditional instruments. While the Mflow benefits from an innovative modular system that employs an auxiliary unit to provide program-controlled weight positioning and removal, the new Aflow avoids traditional weights altogether replacing them with cutting-edge force management. This new system automatically controls stepless adjustment of test loads up to 50 kg, eliminating operator influence and making melt index determination faster and more reliable.
