New Extrusion Die Can Reduce Costs by as Much as 500%
Tallmadge, OH: Diamond America Corporation has introduced the new Multiflow(TM) Cascade extrusion die that has drastically reduced costs for material changeovers.
According to Roger Rosbury, president of FD Plastics in Leominster, Massachusetts, "I've been in the plastic colorants business since 1967, and this is the best die we have ever used." Rosbury indicated that previous to purchasing the new Multiflow die, it required 1500 pounds or more of prime virgin polyethylene resin to flush out the die during color changeovers. "With the new Multiflow die, we have reduced the amount of PE resin used to as little as 300 pounds." At 47 cents per pound, this has reduced changeover costs by more than five hundred dollars per color change. Rosbury indicated that the new die has "produced dramatic savings and greatly improved
efficiency."
