Buffalo Technology Launches the World's Fastest External Hard Drive

New DriveStation DDR to revolutionise hard-drive market with transfer speeds twice as fast as its competitors

London, UK, -- Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of storage and wireless networking solutions, today announces the launch of the world’s fastest external hard drive, the DriveStation DDR (HD-GDU3).

The DDR is the world’s first external hard-drive to incorporate 1GB of DDR3 memory as cache to boost data speeds, and is perfectly integrated to manage data transfers. As a result, it offers read and write speeds up to five times faster than its predecessors and more than double those of its nearest competitors in the market place.

The USB 3.0 drive offers write speeds of more than 400 MB/s and read speeds above 330 MB/s thanks to its DRAM cache function combined with Buffalo Tools software. This enables users to transfer 800MB of digital photos from their PC to the device in under 3.5 seconds, and a similarly impressive 3,000 digital photos in a mere 13.1 seconds.

The DriveStation DDR is a breakthrough evolution in external storage, enabling SSD performance at HDD-like prices. It’s the best solution for users looking for both high speed and huge capacity, without having to choose one instead of the other.

Paul Hudson, Sales Director Northern Europe at Buffalo Technology, said: “The DriveStation DDR gives users unprecedented data transfer speeds at similar costs as most regular USB 3.0 storage devices. The drive offers more than three times faster write speeds and more than double the quickest read speeds currently available on the market, enabling users to transfer files effectively and securely in the blink of an eye.”

The DriveStation DDR is available with 2TB or 3TB of capacity. It is compatible with all major operating systems, including Windows 8 and Mac OS X 10.5 or later.

Availability

The DriveStation DDR is available via Buffalo’s stockists in the UK at an MSRP of:

2TB – £129 incl. VAT

3TB – £169 incl. VAT
