Fox's New Compact, Extended Temperature Oscillators Provide Jitter under 1 pS RMS for Extreme Industrial Applications

Fort Myers, Fla. - Fox Electronics, a leading global supplier of frequency control solutions, has expanded its line of XpressO configurable crystal oscillators with an extended temperature version of its 3.3 V HCMOS oscillator in a compact 3.2 mm x 2.5 mm package. Part of the FXO-HC33 series, the new oscillator can withstand temperatures from -40°C to +85°C, while delivering tight stabilities down to ±50 ppm.

With the growing use of electronics outside of controlled industrial environments, this new oscillator meets the demanding conditions of in-the-field applications including direct sunlight and mounting on ground, sea and air vehicles as well as in remote, inaccessible locations where human safety is a concern. Typical uses of the new oscillator include SONET, Ethernet, broadband access and fiber channel as well as in test and measurement equipment.

The frequency range for the new extended temperature XpressO oscillators is 0.75 MHz to 250 MHz with extremely low phase jitter down to 0.8 pS RMS, depending on the frequency. The FXO-HC33 oscillators offer a 3.2 mm x 2.5 mm x 1.0 mm with an industry standard footprint and pin-out. The RoHS and REACH compliant components use a gold over nickel termination finish.

All XpressO oscillators incorporate a unique serial ID for each individual part that enables Fox to track product manufacturing from raw materials through final testing for increased quality control.

XpressO oscillators use a proprietary ASIC family, developed by Fox, with a 3rd order Delta Sigma Modulator (DSM) to significantly reduce noise to levels comparable with traditional bulk quartz and SAW oscillators. The ASIC family enables the selection of output type, input voltages and temperature performance within the oscillator. Delivered in less than two weeks at an exceptionally low cost, XpressO oscillators offer low noise, a wide frequency range and excellent ambient performance.

Pricing for an extended temperature FXO-HC335R-25MHz is $0.55 in quantities of 10Kpcs. Delivery is 10 Days ARO.
