EXSYS Canada to Showcase Tooling System Enhancements at CMTS 2013

BRAMPTON, Ontario – At the upcoming Canadian Manufacturing Technology Show (CMTS) in booth 4026, EXSYS Canada Ltd. will showcase the recent advancements the company has made to its Dual Collet Chuck Line and Gear Hobber System. Show attendees will also see the revolutionary PRECI-FLEX® Adapter System, a fast, accurate and cost-effective solution for lathe tooling changeovers.

EXSYS has expanded its Dual Collet Chuck Line to accommodate all of the major brands of CNC turning machines. As a result, more shops can now maximize their tool turret capacity. The chucks double the amount of individual turret positions to not only increase a machine's tool storage capacity, but also expand its tooling versatility for different workpieces and help reduce job set up times.

The recent enhancements EXSYS made to its compact Gear Hobber System for horizontal turning centers allow shops to quickly and easily interchange the system's arbor for holding various sizes of slotting saws and gear hobbers. Arbor diameters are available for all standard sizes of slotting saws and gear hobs. Tool changes take just seconds by removing the yoke plate and sliding out the arbor. The base of the tool holder remains in its station.

Built for heavy machining loads, the Gear Hobbing System offers 45 Nm of torque and speeds of up to 3,000 rpm for hobs or slotting saws up to 2.480" in diameter. When used as a gear hobber, the system allows shops to generate splines, spur or helical gears in one operation. The adjustable system also eliminates having to rough gears on one machine, then transfer them to another for gear hobbing. Furthermore, because of its compact design, the system often operates withoutinterrupting its neighboring tool stations in a machine turret. Other comparable systems typically require the room of two tool positions.

PRECI-FLEX is the first tooling system on the market with a single-base holder and multiple tooling adapters that utilizes the ER collet pocket. The product's compact design ensures maximum torque transmission and rigidity, resulting in increased machining accuracy and improved productivity. Additionally, the modular system's conical and flat face planar interface allows the use of either an adapter or a standard ER collet, and enables collets, endmill holders, expanding collet chucks and shrink-fit tooling to be mounted on a single-base holder.

Available in a range of sizes and styles, PRECI-FLEX provides unsurpassed repeatability, with every toolholder offering repeatability within three microns. The system also virtually eliminates machine downtime, and allows tooling adapters to be interchanged between fixed and rotary base holders for fast, economical machining.

EXSYS Tool, Inc. opened its Canadian facility in Brampton, Ontario earlier this year to serve as an extension of its headquarters in San Antonio, Fla. EXSYS Canada enables the company to quickly and effectively meets the needs of Canadian manufacturers through innovative modular toolholding systems as well as more locally-based service and applications support.
