Hagiwara Sys-Com Announces Release of RoHS Compliant ExpressCard Adapter for CompactFlash(TM) and Microdrive(TM)

IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 18 -- Hagiwara Sys-Com Co., Ltd. (HSC), the industry leader in semiconductor application products for the cutting-edge consumer and industrial electronics -- today announced the availability of the RoHS compliant ExpressCard/54 adapter for CompactFlash(TM) and Microdrive(TM).

The ExpressCard Adapter for CompactFlash(TM) and Microdrive(TM) fits into standard 54mm ExpressCard slot found on many new laptops. Providing 5x speed over previous 16-bit PCMCIA adapters and requiring no software drivers to operate, it's sure to be a "must have in your bag" item for anyone who uses CompactFlash(TM) and Microdrives(TM). The ExpressCard Adapter supports both type I and type II drives and consumes very little power requiring only 3.3v to operate.

The ExpressCard slot is a new modular expansion standard finding its way on to most popular laptops from manufacturers such as Dell, HP, Toshiba and many others.

"We had released the ExpressCard Adapter in the summer of 2005 and received many inquiries from Digital SLR camera users worldwide," said Toshitaka Saito, Hagiwara Sys-Com Japan Overseas Sales Manager. "Unfortunately because the ExpressCard Adapter was not RoHS compliant at the time, we were limited to selling the card in Japan and the United States only. We are very pleased that we are now able to provide this product to Europe as well."

As an environmentally conscious manufacturer, Hagiwara Sys-Com also produces Flash Memory cards that are also RoHS compliant.
