Explosion Proof Brushless DC Gearmotor

Also new from Bodine Electric is this "explosion proof" brushless DC gearmotor design. This product is a Bodine type 22B-Z3, variable speed, 24VDC gearmotor that meets UL Class 1, Division 1, Groups C and D Hazardous Location requirements. The gearmotor has to safely operate in an explosive atmosphere. Hazardous location approval by UL required that the motor be designed and tested to stringent specifications. This new product development project required successful collaboration between design engineers from Bodine Electric and the end customer.

The 24V, brushless DC motor winding was optimized to operate from solar-powered batteries. The gearbox is supplied with synthetic lubricant to handle outdoor temperature extremes. From the initial 3D models, to custom castings and pre-production prototypes, to UL testing and approval, the Bodine engineering and manufacturing teams met all key milestones and an aggressive timeline.
