Tacit Announces New Expertise Software Platform for Enterprises

Tacit ESP 4.0 Adds Oracle and Document Link Capabilities to
Modular Solutions Architecture

Palo Alto, CA - June 18th, 2002 - Tacit Knowledge Systems, Inc., the pioneer and leader in Expertise Infrastructure Software, today announced the newest release of its Tacit ESP software
platform. Tacit ESP 4.0 forms the core of Tacit's modular solutions architecture to connect people to expertise, information and activity across their organization.

"Expertise Infrastructure is a key technology component in any large or complex organization," said David Gilmour, President and CEO. "It detects expertise from IT systems already in place,
then automatically connects people across the enterprise to save time, coordinate activity, drive innovation, and produce better results for customers. By adding support for Oracle and
significantly expanding the capabilities of our core Expertise Services Platform, Tacit has further extended its lead in expertise software. For the first time, IT organizations have an open, standards-based foundation for enterprise-wide discovery, delivery, and management of expertise."

Tacit ESP automatically discovers individual expertise and activity across the enterprise, and brokers connections between people who share a common desire to communicate or collaborate. Tacit provides Connector modules that can access content in a variety of existing enterprise systems such as document repositories and e-mail archives. Interface modules make
users aware of people with relevant experience or information from within their primary productivity applications such as Microsoft Outlook®, Lotus Notes®, and enterprise portals. XML
APIs allow for rapid integration and extension of a deployed solution, and all Tacit solutions support an extensive privacy mechanism giving end-users control over what information about
them is revealed to others.

New features in Tacit ESP 4.0 include support for both Microsoft and Oracle databases, multi-language profiling and search, expanded XML integration APIs, and a new document link and
search capability. Document link and search allows tighter integration with content management systems and information repositories. The feature brings an important new capability for end-users to access not only relevant colleagues, but also the key relevant documents and files those people have worked on or worked with.

"Tacit is an innovative and responsive company that has been working hard to extend the capabilities of their solutions plafform," said Gilman Louie, CEO of In-Q-Tel. "Connecting people
to expertise, activity and information across their organization can be of great benefit to Tacit's government and commercial customers."

Tacit ESP 4.0 will be available to customers on June 28th, 2002.
