Expansion of Square D Integrated Equipment Solutions Helps Meet More Applications

PALATINE, Ill. - September 5, 2007 - The flexibility and convenience of integrated electrical equipment is increasing with the expansion of the Integrated Power Center 2 (IPC2) offering of solutions from Square D® Integrated Power and Control Solutions (IPaCS). The expansion includes Automatic Transfer Switch sections up to 400A and an increase in transformer sizes up to 300kVA, providing solutions that are ideally suited for many commercial, retail and industrial applications. Front- and rear-aligned 36-inch-deep IPC2 Transformer Combo enclosures are also new, providing space for larger transformers, resulting in cost- and floor-space-savings opportunities beyond the 24-inch deep enclosures already available.

"Square D IPaCS IPC2 integrated solutions are factory-assembled and pre-wired based on a customer's specific needs, and provide design convenience for consulting engineers," said Craig Jones, IPaCS marketing manager. "When panels and transformers are located in close proximity, integrated equipment can translate to substantial savings in a number of areas, including floor and wall space, along with cost savings due to lower installation time required when compared with a traditional loose-component configuration."

IPC2 Automatic Transfer Switch sections are an excellent solution for transferring power between grid and generator sources when standby power capabilities are required. Sections are 24 inches wide by 24 inches deep and may be combined with panels, individually mounted circuit breakers, or equipment spaces for third-party components such as lighting control or building automation systems.

The expansion includes enhancements to the IPC2 Transformer Combo offer as well. A 24-inch-wide by 24-inch-deep IPC2 Transformer Combo section that allows up to a 45kVA three-phase transformer with a cell above it for a single panelboard provides a more efficient use of space. Additionally, 42- and 48-inch-wide by 36-inch-deep IPC2 Transformer Combo sections with 225kVA and 300kVA three-phase transformers, respectively, also are available for projects requiring greater power.

The expansion also means more IPC2 solutions for stand-alone applications or those close-coupled to Square D Power-Style® QED switchboard lineups. Typical project types that easily benefit from the advantages offered by the IPC2 offer include both new and retrofit installations for:

Commercial buildings (healthcare, education, office buildings, warehouses)
Retail (home improvement, big-box outlets, department stores, distribution centers)
Industrial facilities

IPC2 solutions are available in NEMA 1, NEMA 1 with driphood or NEMA 3R construction. All sections are seismically qualified to meet IBC and ASCE 7 requirements.
