Expanded Colbond Product Range at Domotex 2006

Arnhem, the Netherlands (February 2006) - Colbond was pleased to attend Domotex held in Hanover from January 14-17 as exhibitor. Manufacturing backing materials for the flooring industry since more than 40 years, the Company displayed their high-performance spunlaid nonwovens marketed under the brand names Colback® and Colback® Pro. Against the background of recent developments in the flooring and leisure industry, Colbond addressed a broadened audience at this year's Domotex by now integrating its Enkasonic® hard floor sound control mat and Enkaflex® artificial turf shock absorption and drainage layer.

Strength and Stability for Superior End-Product Quality

The focus of the Company's presence at Domotex 2006 lay on Colback quality backing for carpeting and other interior trim elements in the flooring and the automotive industry. Colback is the Company's brand name for its thermally bonded spunlaid nonwovens made from bi-component filaments consisting of a polyester core and polyamide (PA6) skin. The main application of Colback in flooring is in broadloom, carpet tiles, artificial turf, cushioned vinyl and dust walk-off mats. Suppliers to the automotive industry rely on Colback since many years in the tufting process for molded car carpets. What these applications have in common is that they require the same core characteristics of Colback - being reliable Strength and Stability - for premium end-product quality. These and other application specific product benefits have been reflected in Colbond's presentation at the Domotex.

New products at Domotex 2006

Enkasonic E sound control mats are designed from a three-dimensional polymer structure connected to a Colback nonwoven filter fabric. Installed beneath surfaces such as wood, marble or ceramic tiles, the product reduces airborne and impact sound significantly. In the North American and Asian market, Enkasonic has already proven its effectiveness in countless residential, institutional and commercial buildings. With the growing awareness for the quality benefits for buildings achieved through efficient sound control, Enkasonic is now facing an increased potential in a number of European countries. As hard floor coverings have been an important topic at Domotex, Colbond is convinced to have presented a valuable complementary product with its sound attenuation layer Enkasonic E.

For the use in artificial turf sport pitches, Colbond is supplying a tailor-made underlay for shock absorption and drainage for large sub-surfaces marketed under the brand name Enkaflex. Hundreds of projects using Enkaflex have been executed successfully over the past years and Colbond was pleased to display this sandwich material in combination with Colback backing for artificial turf. Outstanding interest in Enkaflex has been noted during the four days of Domotex 2006.
