Exostar Introduces Global IUID Compliance Service to Its Trading Partner Community

I-GUIDES Service Further Enables Multi-Enterprise Process Integration Between Partners, Suppliers and Government

HERNDON, Va., July 31 /- Exostar, the leader in secure multi- enterprise collaboration solutions for aerospace and defense (A&D), announces an Item Unique Identification (IUID) compliance service for its 38,000 customers. Through its relationship with Lockheed Martin, Exostar is offering the award-winning I-GUIDES(TM) IUID Compliancy solution that improves asset visibility and interoperability between suppliers, contractors and the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD). In 2005, the DoD mandated marking and registration of IUID using a two-dimensional (2D) matrix for many assets, components and parts.

The new service is a natural extension of Exostar's mission to help the aerospace and defense supply network comply with unique business process requirements in the most cost effective and efficient ways possible. With Lockheed Martin's I-GUIDES solution, Exostar's customers gain a highly flexible hosted software application that streamlines their ability to meet the DoD requirements for IUID across government and industry asset management systems.

"Exostar's offering of I-GUIDES optimizes the ability of thousands of DoD suppliers and prime contractors to develop and share IUID information conveniently and cost effectively with each other," said Richard Erickson, I- GUIDES program manager, Lockheed Martin, Maritime System's and Sensors division. "The I-GUIDES team is extremely excited to be able to offer this capability to Exostar's customer base."

By subscribing to the I-GUIDES service, suppliers can easily assign, verify and transmit IUID assignments mandated by the DoD, with guaranteed uniqueness and accuracy. Because the service is available in an on-demand delivery model, suppliers can tap the solution immediately to speed time-to- compliance with minimal ongoing cost of ownership. Suppliers choose the data input options -- by automated batch uploads or manual assignments -- and the service enables the final transmission to the DoD's UID Registry or the prime contractor or partner.

"Exostar is pleased to offer suppliers another way to improve the global visibility of assets," said Peter Scott, VP of marketing and corporate development for Exostar. "With this service, we're making it easy for A&D suppliers to comply with IUID mandates without worrying about installing and supporting another software application within their enterprise."

Today, Exostar serves an A&D community network of 38,000 manufacturers and suppliers with on-demand offerings to support multi-tier supply chain visibility, sourcing, procurement and project collaboration. Founded as an independent company by BAE Systems, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon and Rolls-Royce, Exostar provides this community with a secure, neutral environment to share information, integrate critical business processes and effectively collaborate with partners, suppliers and customers.
