Eaton Corporation Business Unit Presents Newest Cutler-Hammer ECS2100 Digital Excitation System

PITTSBURGH, PA. Diversified industrial manufacturer Eaton Corporation's newest excitation system, the Cutler-Hammer ECS2100, provides digital static excitation, voltage regulation, control, protection, and monitoring functions for synchronous generators for steam, combustion, or hydro turbine generator applications.

The ECS2100 is a multiple microprocessor-based control system that uses a digital signal processor for required computational speed of advanced control functions and algorithms. It also uses an integrated communications controller for implementation of event recording, data logging, and communications to external control systems, and to a user-friendly PC interface for maintenance and analysis functions.

"We've been in business for 80 years and it shows in our product lines and capabilities," said Barry Graves, product line manager. "We provide standard and customized excitation products for all sizes of generating systems, and our in-house design capability exists to serve the special needs of the retrofit market."

The ECS2100 can be scaled to multiple-sized generation units with minimal changes. An easy-to-use software tool changes settings for the various limiting and protection functions, downloads new system firmware and retrieves diagnostics information.
