Cattron Group Announces Event Recorder for Industrial Locomotive Applications

Sharpsville, PA USA (November 22, 2005) - Cattron Group International, a manufacturer of industrial radio remote control systems, announced the availability of its Digital Event Recorder for industrial locomotive applications. An available option on certain Cattron Locomotive Remote Control Systems, the Event Recorder monitors and records operational data that can be downloaded to a computer for review and analysis.

The Event Recorder provides 220 recording channels for 96 hours, synchronizing information recorded by the radio control system with data from the locomotive. All information is generated in a single integrated report. The reports are typically used in system diagnostics, incident reconstruction, and liability protection. The company also noted that the data is useful in operator training and evaluation.

Cattron, the largest provider of locomotive remote control systems to the railroad industry, has offered the Event Recorder as an FRA-certified option on their locomotive remote control systems for railroad applications. The new industrial version will provide the Event Recorder data in a format and terminology that is more applicable to industrial locomotive operations.

The Digital Event Recorder monitors and records electrical analog, digital and pneumatic input data from the remote control system and the locomotive, which can be retrieved and downloaded to a computer through a wired or wireless serial link. Items recorded include all commands from the Operator Control Unit (OCU), the remote control inputs and outputs as well as locomotive only functions. The package includes a Data Analysis Software for use on a PC, which allows rapid search, chart-type data display and a wide variety of report customization. With an optional cellular modem interface, Event Recorder data can be retrieved and viewed from virtually anywhere a phone connection is available.
