Luminary Micro Announces Stellaris LM3S811 Evaluation Kit with ARM® RealView® Microcontroller Development Kit Software

Stellaris LM3S811 Evaluation Kit is Both Evaluation Platform and A Serial In-Circuit Debug Interface for Stellaris ARM Cortex(TM)-M3-Based Microcontrollers

AUSTIN, Texas, Sept. 25 // -- Luminary Micro (http://www.luminarymicro.com/) a fabless semiconductor company that designs, markets, and sells ARM(R) Cortex(TM)-M3 processor-based microcontrollers and was the first to bring ARM for $1.00 to embedded developers, announces today the immediate availability of its Stellaris LM3S811 Evaluation Kit with ARM RealView(R) Microcontroller Development Kit (MDK-ARM) evaluation software.

Measuring just 3.5" by 1.5", the Stellaris LM3S811 Evaluation Kit is exceptional for its compactness and versatility, spanning the design spectrum from evaluation to prototyping to application-specific design by functioning as both an evaluation platform for the Stellaris LM3S811 microcontroller and a serial in-circuit debug interface for any Stellaris microcontroller-based target board. The kit features:

o 50 MHz Stellaris LM3S811 ARM Cortex-M3-based microcontroller, with 64K flash, 8K SRAM, analog comparator, 5 channels of 10-bit ADC at 500K samples per second, 6 motion control unit PWM generators, 2 UARTs, SSI, I2C, GPIOs, internal temperature sensor, watchdog timer, 4 general purpose timers, on-chip low dropout voltage regulator, and on-chip brown-out reset and power-on reset functions
o 96x16 pixel OLED display
o User-programmable push button and LED
o Convenient reset push button and power indicator LED
o Thumbwheel potentiometer input to the on-chip ADC
o Serial in-circuit debug interface over USB
o Evaluation copy of ARM RealView Microcontroller Development Kit (MDK-ARM) tools featuring the Keil uVision(TM) debugger
o Stellaris Peripheral Driver Library, which provides a convenient, no-hassle method of initializing, programming, and controlling peripherals on Stellaris microcontrollers
o Port and example application using FreeRTOS.org(TM) small footprint real time operating system
o Stellaris CD packed with datasheets, schematics, applications notes, and programming examples

The board is powered over USB (cable included) and also contains silk-screened through-hole-mount pin headers that can be user populated with pin stake headers for use in hardware prototyping. Utilizing a standard 20-pin ARM JTAG debug cable (also included), the Stellaris LM3S811 Evaluation Kit can be used as a serial in-circuit emulator for the user's application-specific target board.

"The Stellaris LM3S811 Evaluation Kit with MDK-ARM Software is one of the most versatile evaluation kits offered for the Stellaris family," said Luminary Micro Chief Marketing Officer Jean Anne Booth. "Being able to go from prototype to design with this evaluation kit allows embedded developers to experience Stellaris microcontroller's 32-bit performance at 8/16-bit cost, and to easily see for themselves why we have been emphasizing that Stellaris is the performance product for serious microcontroller applications."

Luminary Micro was a lead partner in the development of the Cortex-M3 processor, and has the only silicon implementation of Cortex-M3 available on the open market today. The Stellaris family of microcontrollers currently contains 19 feature-rich microcontrollers targeted at embedded and industrial applications, such as building and home automation; factory automation and control; industrial control power devices; stepper motors; brushed and brushless DC motors; and AC induction motors. The Stellaris line of MCUs is supported by the company's cost-effective development kits and low-cost evaluation kits, which all come packaged in an easy-to-use format that has engineers up and running in 10 minutes or less.

Stellaris LM3S811 Evaluation Kit with MDK-ARM Software Ordering and Availability

The Stellaris LM3S811 Evaluation Kit with MDK-ARM software, ordering part number EKK-LM3S811, is available now through Luminary Micro's global sales channel at a resale price of just $49.
