Pittsford, NY: E240B is a credit-card sized evaluation board which shows how easy it is to create a small, single-sided PCB for such diverse applications as small appliances, monitors or PC peripherals where a low cost, touch sensitive solution is required to enhance the product and provide exciting product styling options.
E240B is an evaluation board for Quantum Research Group's QT220 and QT240 QTouch ICs. The portion of the PCB which supports the LEDs can be snapped off if necessary, leaving a small touch key array with a minimum of components on the board. E240B Evaluation board includes PC software to demonstrate touch position.
QT220 (2-key) and QT240 (4-key) QTouch ICs are self-contained digital sensor devices capable of detecting near-proximity or touch on 2 or 4 electrodes. Each of the channels operates independently of the others, and each can be tuned for a unique sensitivity level by simply changing its sample capacitor value. Two speeds are supported, one of which consumes only 90µA of typical current at 4V. Unique among capacitance sensors, the device incorporates spread spectrum modulation for unsurpassed EMC compliance.
