CAMBRIDGE, England, March 2 -- Amino, the world leading IPTV platform supplier, and Ruckus Wireless, today announced an extended partnership and advanced integration and interoperability of their next-generation products which will be demonstrated at next week's IPTV World Forum in London. Ruckus will show the transmission of multiple high definition IPTV multicast streams in MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 formats over standard 802.11 Wi-Fi technology.

Amino and Ruckus Wireless are credited as the first to bring wireless IPTV to Europe through a joint customer a year ago.

The joint development includes the creation of custom drivers and firmware that enable a completely plug-and-play wireless IPTV solution that operators can install in minutes with no configuration. The integration opens the door for operators to allow end user subscribers to self install IPTV solutions within the home.

Amino has recently integrated its popular multi-codec AmiNET125 IPTV set-top box (STB) with Ruckus' next-generation MediaFlex wireless USB dongle, a unique, miniaturized wireless multimedia adapter. This new Smart Wi-Fi adapter, which requires no power adapter, reduces the cost and simplifies the deployment of IPTV to the operator even further compared to the first- generation of Ruckus adapters -- making wireless IPTV even more affordable.

Amino and Ruckus Wireless have revolutionized the IPTV installation process. IPTV installation within consumer homes typically takes between three to six hours. With the Amino/Ruckus Wireless solution this installation time is cut to less than one hour in most cases for a multi-room IPTV solution. This allows operators to complete three to four times more IPTV installations per day.

"Operators want a low-cost, high-value solution that doesn't require them to be systems integrators," said Selina Lo, president and CEO at Ruckus Wireless. "Our combined package with Amino gives operators access to the emerging wireless multi-room IPTV market, allowing them to develop their portfolio of services and tap into these new revenue streams."

"Amino is very pleased to be working with an innovative company such as Ruckus Wireless and together we have enabled this European wireless IPTV milestone," said Roy Kirsopp, VP & General Manager at Amino. "With IPTV opening up an increased choice and a greater diversity of programmes, this integrated wireless technology solves many practical problems, and means operators can target consumers with greater success. IPTV's future is now cemented as a force that will overcome traditional TV viewing models."
