Curtiss-Wright Introduces Ruggedized 3U CompactPCI Gigabit Ethernet Switch/Router Card

LEESBURG, VA - March 7, 2006, -- Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing has announced the new 3U CompactPCI (cPCI) SCP/DCP-681 Compact SwitchBlade Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) switch/router. This 10-port, fully managed, intelligent multilayer (layer 2/layer 3) card is available in both air-cooled (SCP) and conduction-cooled (DCP) configurations. It provides up to ten wire-speed 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet interfaces in a single 3U cPCI slot and is ideal for architecting system-wide Intra-Platform Networks (IPNs) in weight and space constrained environments.

"The SCP/DCP-681 is ideal for architecting IPv4, IPv4/v6, or pure IPv6 transformational networks in the battlefield," said Lynn Patterson, vice president and general manager of Modular Solutions, Curtiss-Wright Controls Embedded Computing. "This network-centric approach relies on switched Gigabit Ethernet architectures to inter-connect boxes, compute blades, and compute nodes within platforms. The SCP/DCP-681 gives network designers a great solution for deploying compact, light weight Gigabit Ethernet switching in harsh environments."

The SCP/DPC 681 design provides wirespeed, non-blocking performance on all ten (10) of its 1 GbE ports over the cPCI backplane. With address tables and buffer memory fully integrated on chip, the SCP/DPC 681 can support advanced full-duplex end-to-end flow and congestion control that facilitates reliable operation.

The SCP/DCP-681 supports a powerful set of CLI, Telnet, Web and SNMP management interfaces that can be used to configure a complete set of protocols and parameters including PBIT, IBIT, CBIT, Layer 2 protocols, Layer 3 (IPv4/v6) protocols, Multicasting, QoS, and Security. In addition, the SCP/DPC 681 has unique features such as a Secure Memory Erase function that can be used for wiping memory, as well as an unparalleled combination of protocol standards not found in any other switch on the market.

"When combined with Curtiss-Wright's 122/124 3U CompactPCI single board computers, PMC graphics modules, PMC FPGA card, and 3U chassis, the SCP/DCP-681 is an integral component in a complete set of 3U CPCI building blocks for Systems Integrators designing small-form factor subsystems," added Ms. Patterson.

To ease and speed system development, Curtiss-Wright also offers an optional 3U cPCI rear transition module that can be used to connect end nodes using standard RJ45 cables.

DCP (conduction-cooled) versions of the card can also be supported with an optional 10-port LEDS front-panel plug-in (contact the factory for additional information).

The SCP/DCP-681 complements Curtiss-Wright's wide range of Single Board Computers, Digital Signal Processors, Graphics and Communications and IO products. For more information about Curtiss-Wright networking solutions please visit www.cwcembedded.com.

Pricing for the SCP/DCP-681 starts at $9,100 USD.
