Schneider Electric Releases Connexium(TM) Ethernet Switch

PALATINE, Ill. - May 5, 2004 - Schneider Electric has released the latest member of the ConneXium family of hubs, switches, bridges and transceivers for Transparent Ready(TM) applications. The Telemecanique® ConneXium(TM) Ethernet Switch meets the low cost, functionality and performance requirements of today's Ethernet-based industrial sites. This new switch enables Ethernet-based sites to implement an Ethernet communications architecture throughout control and business systems for real-time control, data access and decision-making.

As the link between manufacturing and control devices, the ConneXium Ethernet Switch permits the transmission of vital information, ensuring a more efficient automated operation. The ConneXium five-port 10/100 Base-TX Ethernet Switch is engineered to operate at 100 Mbps full-duplex, 100 Mbps half-duplex, 10 Mbps full-duplex or 10 Mbps half-duplex. The ports can support speed and duplex auto-negotiation, auto-polarity and auto-MDI/MDIX. They can also be easily connected to data terminal equipment or other network segments using straight or crossed over twisted pair cables. When connected, all five ports are designed to auto-negotiate speed and duplex to the fastest condition that the end device can support.

The ConneXium Ethernet Switch completes the ConneXium family, providing manufacturing facilities with a truly integrated Ethernet solution that unites everything from the device level to the control network, and even on through to the corporate intranet.
