Original Press Release:

MOXA Industrial Ethernet Solutions Perfect for PLC/SCADA System Integrators

Moxa Technologies, the Industrial Ethernet Expert, will present a series of Industrial Ethernet solutions perfect for PLC/SCADA system integrators. MOXA Industrial Ethernet Solutions include redundant managed switches, unmanaged switches, industrial media converters, and industrial DIN-Rail power supplies.

Unlike commercial switches, MOXA EtherDevice Server(TM) is designed with innovative features that meet the stringent demands of industrial environments. The features include (a) Reliable Redundant Ring Connection, which establishes an Ethernet redundant ring for the ultimate in industrial communications reliability (the product provide a recovery time of less than one second!), (b) Line-Swap Fast Recovery (patent pending), which guarantees continuous and reliable operation by recovering in just a few milliseconds when devices are unplugged and then reconnected on-site (compare this with the several minutes of reconnection time required by commercial Ethernet equipment), (c) Auto E-mail Warning, which lets MOXA EtherDevice Server(TM) send real-time e-mail messages to the administrator when network traffic builds up or when an exception is detected. The administrator can use this valuable information to avert network jam, and recover quickly when key equipment acts up, helping prevent damage or loss caused by unexpected interruption in network communication.

Moreover, the EDS-SNMP OPC Server software package collects SNMP data from the Ethernet, and then converts the data to OPC format so that customers can easily integrate their Ethernet Network Management Application into existing control applications. This software package is expected to be available in March of 2003.

In addition to Moxa's redundant managed switches, Moxa will also be releasing unmanaged switches from MOXA EtherDevice(TM) Switch EDS-308/305 Series, as well as MOXA Industrial Media Converter IMC-101 Series, in 3rd quarter of 2003. The MOXA EtherDevice(TM) Switch EDS-308/305 Series supports IEEE 802.3/802.3u/802.3x, and provides relay output alarm by power failure or port break. The MOXA Industrial Media Converter IMC-101 Series converts and connects from Ethernet to a Fiber Optical port. It supports Link Fault Pass-Through and relay output alarm by power failure or port break.
