US Signal Launches Virtual Ethernet Services Product
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich., April 15 - US Signal, a leading provider of data bandwidth capacity in the Midwest today announced the release of its newest product offering, Virtual Ethernet Services (VES).
US Signal Virtual Ethernet Service (VES) is a flexible way to connect customer sites seamlessly over US Signal's Ethernet network. VES employs Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS) technology utilizing Cisco network architecture to provide point to point and multipoint connectivity.
US Signal connects to customers using a variety of technologies including fiber builds, Ethernet over Copper (EoCu), Ethernet over T1 and DS3 (EoTDM), Ethernet over SONET, partner Ethernet networks, and direct carrier hotel or colocation hand-offs to the network. VES is also available with Quality of Service (QoS) for customer prioritization of critical traffic such as voice and video.
"The ability to mix and match any of the available Ethernet access types in metro areas and also across our entire footprint brings a unique product solution to our customers," said Kirk Dombek, director of product management. "VES reduces the complexity of a customer's network configuration since customer LANs utilize Ethernet technology and can greatly reduce equipment interface costs."
Dan Olrich, vice president of operations, stated, "VES's range of services includes Transparent LAN Services, Ethernet Private Line and coordinated Network to Network Interfaces (NNIs) which are available to transport data anywhere within the US Signal footprint including the long haul network. The US Signal network, the largest in the Midwest, includes more than 700 route miles of fiber optic metro rings in 14 markets and over 4,000 route miles of long haul fiber connecting more than 100 on-off ramps, comprised of major carrier hotel locations and incumbent telephone company central offices.
