Press Release Summary:
Utilizing EtherNet/IP(TM), DKD Ethernet Modules control/communicate with ATI's Heavy Automation Robotic Tool Changers. Arc Prevention Circuit protects electrical power contacts against high inrush current during coupling/uncoupling, while Tool Stand Interlock prevents uncoupling of tooling when not nested in tool stand. Modules feature electrical rating of 24 Vdc for control signals and 5 A/24 Vdc for pass-through signals. Web server aids tool changer configuration/status.
Original Press Release:
ATI Industrial Automation's New DKD Ethernet Modules Protect Power Contacts with Arc Prevention Technology
ATI Industrial Automation (ATI), Apex, N.C., recently introduced DKD Ethernet Modules, a new series of tool changer modules that control and communicate with ATI's Heavy Automation Robotic Tool Changers - using EtherNet/IP(TM) while passing DeviceNet(TM) network and power to the Tool-side. This provides for utilization of EtherNet/IP on the robot up to the Tool Changer and short connection times to the Tool-side equipment by using DeviceNet Quick Connect equipment on the tooling.
The new modules also feature ATI's patent-pending Arc Prevention Circuit which protects all electrical power contacts against reduced life that can be caused by loads with high inrush current during coupling/uncoupling. Provided through a connector on the Tool module, ATI's patented TSI (Tool Stand Interlock) technology prevents uncoupling of the tooling when not safely nested in the Tool Stand.
DKD Ethernet Module Details
The DKD Ethernet Module advantages include: integrated EtherNet/IP interface; DeviceNet pass-through with standard 5-pin mini connector; Arc Prevention Circuit on all electrical power contacts; two auxiliary power pass-throughs; TSI to safely uncouple the tooling; Tool-ID, adjustable from 0 to 9; integrated web server for Tool Changer configuration and status; internal pin block for valve electrical connections. The module's multi-function design requires fewer cables and connectors and allows for a compact assembly.
The modules have an anodized aluminum housing, precious metal-plated spring and contact pins and nitrile seals to ensure optimum reliability. Their electrical rating is 24VDC for control signals and 5Amp/24VDC for pass-through signals.
ATI Industrial Automation just celebrated their 20-year anniversary as a world-leading engineering-based developer of robotic peripheral equipment, including Automatic Tool Changers, Multi-axis Force/Torque Sensing Systems, Robotic Deburring Tools, Robotic Collision Sensors and Compliance Devices. ATI's engineering department, the largest of its kind for a robotic tooling company, is focused on developing cost-effective, state-of-the-art products and solutions that improve robotic productivity.
