Original Press Release:

Rabbit Semiconductor Brings New Life to Your Embedded Systems with the Ethernet Connection Development Kit.

Davis, Calif., September 22, 2004 - Rabbit Semiconductor is pleased to announce the release of the Ethernet Connection Development Kit. The kit provides embedded system designers with a very cost effective solution to add Ethernet connectivity to new and existing systems. The Ethernet Connection Development Kit, includes an RCM3720 microprocessor core module (512K Flash / 256K SRAM / 1MB Serial Flash), development board with prototyping area, Dynamic C development system and complete documentation on CD-ROM, serial cable for programming and debugging, Getting Started manual, and AC adapter.

With the addition of select software modules, the low-cost RCM3720 RabbitCore becomes the hardware platform for a secure web enabled application.

The RabbitWeb module is a rapid HTTP/HTML web development extension that can read and write program variables remotely, while eliminating complex CGI programming. It also easily creates controls such as pull-down menus or control buttons on a Web interface while ensuring valid input values and proper user authorization. RabbitWeb elegantly indicates input errors for easy correction and most importantly yields a 10X reduction in CGI programming and debugging time.

The File Allocation Table (FAT) File System module enables a ready to run serial Flash-based file system. It works with the Dynamic C HTTP server to reliably update content to the FAT such as databases and web pages. This module also supports a battery backed wear-reducing cache system to protect the file system during power loss.

The Secure Socket Layer (SSL) module provides HTTPS Security for 8-Bit Embedded Devices using the Rabbit 3000 microprocessor. Fast processing of complex encryption algorithms (up to 120 Kbits/sec) supports HTTPS with SSL version 3 and Transport Layer Security (TLS) version 1. This module is royalty and license free and includes a digital certificate creation utility. Existing web applications can be secured with less than 10 lines of code.

The Ethernet Connection Development Kit is available to ship immediately with a price of $199. Optional software modules are also available, starting at $159.
