Ethernet I/O Modules feature Web-based configuration.

Press Release Summary:

BusWorks(TM) 900EN Series modules interface analog and discrete I/O signals directly to Ethernet Modbus/TCP 10/100 network via direct network interface. Every 12-channel, inch-wide unit operates independently of buscouplers or I/O racks and does not require special system power supply. Self-contained units support up to 10 sockets each, and automatic negotiation arbitrates 10/100 Mbps and full/half-duplex communication.

New Ethernet I/O Modules Feature Higher Density, Lower Installation Costs, and Easier Web-based Configuration

Acromag introduces BusWorks(TM) 900EN Series I/O modules with a direct network interface on each inch-wide module to eliminate expensive buscouplers, big I/O racks, and special software.

Wixom, MI: Acromag's new BusWorks® 900EN Series I/O Modules interface analog and discrete I/O signals directly to an Ethernet Modbus/TCP 10/100 network. The twelve-channel, inch-wide I/O modules operate independently of any buscoupler or I/O rack, nor do they require any special system power supply. These self-contained I/O modules are more cost and space-efficient for applications requiring fewer I/O channels by offering lower startup costs and higher density mounting. Setup is also faster and easier with embedded web pages allowing configuration using any standard web browser. No other software is required. Flexible power requirements support operation on standard 15-36V DC power supplies. The 12-channel discrete I/O modules ($350) are ideal for on/off monitoring and control of industrial devices. Analog I/O modules ($550 for 12 channels) interface DC voltage or current input signals to the network controller.

The I/O modules provide an isolated Modbus/TCP 10Base-T/100Base-TX network interface. Each module supports up to 10 sockets allowing communication with multiple masters. Automatic negotiation arbitrates 10/100 Mbps and full/half-duplex communication. Built-in watchdog timers monitor communication problems while self-diagnostic capabilities simplify maintenance and troubleshooting. A failsafe mode ensures outputs are sent to a safe state if a failure occurs.

Two analog I/O models accept 0-20mA (963EN) or ±10V DC (964EN) signals in a variety of ranges for greater flexibility in a single unit. All twelve channels are isolated as a group from network and power. 16-bit sigma-delta A/D converters deliver high accuracy for precise measurements.

Three discrete I/O models are available - twelve input channels (981EN), twelve output channels (982EN), and twelve bi-directional input/output channels (983EN). Individually selectable bi-directional channels let you mix inputs and outputs on one unit to use fewer modules and reduce costs. Input modules transmit discrete level data to other network devices or controllers. The input channels are active-low with a 0-35V DC range and TTL-compatible. Output modules can activate alarms or provide on/off switching. Output channels are open-drain DMOS mosfet switches with a 0-35V DC range for current sinking applications. On the 983EN models, input buffers are connected in tandem with the open-drain outputs for convenient loop-back verification of the output state.

Many other features ensure dependable operation. An internal microcontroller has integrated non-volatile memory for reliable storage of configuration parameters and can be reprogrammed repeatedly. And to visually confirm proper operation, LEDs indicate power, network activity, and individual channel status. The units are pending CE approvals and UL/cUL Class I Div. 2 listing.
